Research Associate I

Entry Level Position

Job Description: Laboratory associate responsible for nucleic acid isolation from client specimens and testing via hybridization to Affymetrix and/or Illumina microarrays. This is an entry level position.

Essential Functions:

• Adhere to all EA policies, procedures, and employee handbook contents
• Perform specimen testing procedures according to current Expression Analysis standard operating procedures (SOPs) and strict GLP/CLIA guidelines.
• Perform routine documentation procedures including recording specimen testing data and organizing testing reports.
• Record data in a timely fashion as required.
• Perform routine equipment calibration and maintenance where required.
• Prepare solutions.
• Function in a team environment.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule.

Experience and Skills:

• Hands on molecular biology experience, including the use of a pipetteman.
• Proficiency with basic laboratory calculations.
• Microsoft Excel and Word experience.
• Good organizational skills.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Close attention to detail is essential.
• Able to communicate with others.
• Enthusiastic.
• Experience with electronic and/or manual multichannel pipetteman a plus.
• Experience with high-throughput processing a plus.
• Experience in a laboratory operating under GLP and CLIA guidelines highly preferred.
• Experience isolating and manipulating DNA preferred.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and training in molecular biology, biology, chemistry, or related field.
• Two to four years of work related experience.
