Laboratory Associate (Two Positions Available)
Job Summary: Responsible for analysis and testing of client specimens and providing documentation in a timely manner. Must be able to utilize judgment and discretion in performing laboratory procedures while adhering to the regulatory guidelines for GLP and CLIA environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all EA policies, procedures and employee handbook contents.
- Ability to exercise and utilize good judgment with respect to conducting successful specimen testing while ensuring that testing and laboratory procedures satisfy regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to coordinate and integrate client procedures with regulatory and corporate testing guidelines.
- Perform specimen test procedures while adhering to Expression Analysis standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to exercise judgment in assessing whether testing results are within acceptable tolerances.
- Generate test data and prepare documentation in compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines.
- Consistently and accurately record specimen testing data and preparation of testing reports.
- Some calibration and maintenance of laboratory and scientific equipment where required.
- Selection and preparation of testing solutions suitable for specific specimens and isolating variants from specimens while maintaining adherence to regulatory and corporate testing requirements.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Function in a team environment and maintain a flexible work schedule.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices requirements.
- Proficiency with laboratory calculations regarding batches and specimens including averages, means, standard deviations and various quality control matrices.
- Hands on molecular biology experience, including the use of a pipetteman.
- Microsoft Excel and Word experience.
- Good organizational skills / Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to consistently exercise judgment and discretion with respect to specimen testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Close attention to detail is essential.
Credentials and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of specialized experience and training in biology or chemistry.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory operating under GLP and/or CLIA guidelines preferred.
- Experience manipulating DNA/RNA preferred.
