Expression Analysis and Emory University Sign Core Facility Management Contract

Durham, N.C. (August 4, 2004) - Expression Analysis, Inc. (EA), a full-service microarray genetics testing, analysis and data management organization, today announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Emory University (Emory) to provide gene expression services using the Affymetrix platform.

Through this agreement, Emory has chosen EA to be its provider for Affymetrix GeneChip(r) processing, a state-of-the-art microarray (DNA chip) technology that is rapidly advancing the way genetic researchers study disease states, identify drug targets and profile changes within genes. EA will provide such services as RNA isolation, target probe development, hybridization and processing of Emory-supplied samples and Affymetrix products. Dr. Kim Gernert, Director, BimCore - Biomolecular Computing Resource at Emory will serve as the program director for Emory University.

"Our agreement with Emory establishes an important relationship with one of the nation's premier universities," said Steve Casey, EA's founder and chief operating officer. "Microarray technology use continues to expand rapidly in academic, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and other human health related organizations. As these organizations evaluate research efficiency and effectiveness, they are recognizing the value and advantages of outsourcing as a means to improve resource utilization, "Casey said.  "We are delighted to add Emory to a growing list of prestigious research organizations that utilize our services."

"We are looking forward to working with Expression Analysis" said Dr. Gernert. "We can devote additional time to effective experimental design and subsequent data analysis knowing that EA will provide the highest quality data generation for our researchers."

Dr. Tom Goralski, Laboratory Director for EA, has been named project director for the collaborative agreement with Emory.
