Expression Analysis Announces Additions to its Scientific Advisory Board

Durham, NC – August 24, 2006: Expression Analysis, Inc., a full-service microarray testing, analysis and data management organization, has announced additions to its scientific advisory board. John Ryan, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer of AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Richard Hockett, MD, Medical Fellow and Director of Genomic Medicine at Eli Lilly & Co., and Buzz Sztukowski, Sr. Vice President, Global Marketing & Strategic Development at bioMérieux have joined Expression Analysis’ Scientific Advisory Board.

“Our current Scientific Advisory Board members are thought leaders in genomic technologies and genomic medicine," said Steve McPhail, President and CEO of Expression Analysis, Inc. “Our new Scientific Advisory Board members nicely compliment our current members with additional experience in both the pharmaceutical and clinical diagnostic industries. We believe that the new makeup of our Scientific Advisory Board will assist our company in our vision of bridging the use of microarray-based pharmacogenomic assays in clinical trials to targeted molecular diagnostics."

John L. Ryan, Ph.D., M.D., is Chief Medical Officer for AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Cambridge, MA. He is responsible for clinical strategy and development of AVEO’s pipeline. Dr. Ryan brings almost 20 years of experience in drug discovery and development, including expertise in translational medicine and cancer biology. Prior to AVEO, Dr. Ryan spent 11 years at Wyeth where he most recently held the position of Senior Vice President of Translational Research and Head of the Department of Experimental Medicine, which was created to explore new technologies such as pharmacogenomics in exploratory clinical trials, and to work closely with FDA on the use of transcriptional profiling in clinical trials. Prior to Wyeth, Dr, Ryan held positions in Clinical Research and Development at Genetics Institute and Merck Research Laboratories. Dr. Ryan received his BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University and his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego. He was a member of the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale, prior to joining Merck.

Dr. Richard D. Hockett’s current position is Director of Genomic Medicine at Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis in the Department of Diagnostic and Experimental Medicine. His responsibilities include applied genomics and biomarker development. Special areas of focus are molecular diagnostics, specimen banking, and immunology. Prior to joining Lilly, Dr. Hockett was at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Department of Pathology, where he oversaw the Clinical Immunology and Molecular Diagnostic Laboratories. His research interests have been in the areas of Developmental Immunology and HIV disease. Dr. Hockett received his M.D. degree from the University of Minnesota, and did his residency in Clinical Pathology at Washington University, St. Louis.

Mr. Buzz Sztukowski is currently Sr. Vice President for Global Marketing and Strategic Development with bioMérieux of Lyons, France, a billion dollar global diagnostics company. Mr. Sztukowski is responsible for product development as well as global business and marketing strategies for the company’s Microbiology Business. He joined bioMérieux in 1998 as Sr. Vice President of NA Commercial Operations before moving into his current role in 2002. Prior to joining bioMérieux Mr. Sztukowski was President of Remel, Inc. a manufacturer and distributor of microbiology products. His experience includes thirteen years with Abbott Laboratories Diagnostic Division, where he held a series of positions with increasing responsibilities in sales and marketing management including worldwide marketing.

Joseph R. Nevins PhD, Chair of the Board, and the Barbara Levine University Professor of Breast Cancer Genomics and Director of the Center for Applied Genomics and Technology at Duke University, Geoffrey Ginsburg, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Genomic Medicine at Duke University and Mike West, Ph. D., Professor of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Arts & Sciences Professor of Statistics and Decision Sciences at Duke University will continue their service on the Expression Analysis Scientific Advisory Board.
