FFPE
For many clinical applications, FFPE tissues or cells will be the major source of total RNA for expression profiling due to the relative versatility of the preservation method. While the RNA in these specimens tend to degrade rapidly, recent advances in amplification and labeling technologies have opened the door for whole genome expression profiling from FFPE tissues and cells.
Expression Analysis requires 100 ng of total RNA for expression profiling from RNA extracted from FFPE tissues. For best results, Expression Analysis recommends the following procedure to prepare cells for shipment:
- Prepare 3-5 10 um sections from the FFPE block.
- Place sections in a centrifuge tube.
- Store specimens at room temperature.
